The updates that followed were once to change the UI, improve the graphics, things that made zero difference for me personally when i had nothing but repeating the same tasks left to do which only served the purpose of staying on the leaderboard. Or an NPC to open a new quest chain to build a means to another island with a new set of things to do. Myself and several others asked for the possibility of traveling to new islands via the dock already in game. Once i completed the collections and upgraded / unlocked all the areas on the small island it became tedious just repeating quests. There are many other fun things such as daily challenges, daily free gifts along with a set of nice gifts each Monday. Quests are just a part of the game and you do not have to do them all of the time. They can get somewhat repetive after awhile, but for me, I had a lot of hours into the game before noticing it. It's been a little quieter this past year because they are working on a large update. The developers have done a great job supporting the game and there have been seven DLC packs since release. I purchased the game within the first hour of relesae and have played it almost every day since then. I especially like the design aspect of the game and experiment with different ways to setup the island, especially when seasons change. You can play it as a relaxing, chill-out kind of game or you can madly run around farming, fishing, completing quests, collecting items, playing the stock market and earning gems or any other level of activity in between.
There is a lot of freedom in the ways you can play it, so there is probably something here that you will enjoy and is right for you. Castaway Paradise's minigame is much more forgiving, and doesn't stress me out or frustrate me. I often lost my fish despite trying repeatedly to get better at it, because your timing has to be exact and the fishing minigame isn't forgiving if you're not fast. In Castaway Paradise, the developers aren't constrained by the brand, and are able to do things a little differently, and make improvements to the style.Īs an example, I hated fishing in Animal Crossing. I find it more fun than Animal Crossing, myself, but that's mostly because the formula Nintendo created hardly changes from one game to the next. If you want a relaxing game and don't mind a bit of repetitiveness while working towards your goals, you'll enjoy it. Of all the games I bought during the sale, this is the one I play the most. The people that you saw complaining about lack of updates had replies from the developers, and they said that they are actively working on 3.0. Actually I see things getting updated regularly.
